Former Cleveland Urban League chief to open Church's Chicken restaurants

After running the Urban League of Greater Cleveland for 16 years, Myron Robinson says he's ready for his next challenge: chicken franchising.

He plans to open 20 Church's Chicken restaurants in the Cleveland area over the next five years in partnership with nine other black investors. The first restaurant will open at East 55th Street and Woodland Avenue in November, he said. Collinwood and Steelyard Commons also are likely to get stores soon.

Robinson, 63, stepped down as president and chief executive of the Urban League when his successor, Jonathan M. Holifield, was named. Now, he'll be overseeing operations at the Cleveland restaurants, while remaining an adviser for the Urban League.

"I was about ready to do something different with my life," Robinson said.
