(AFX UK Focus) 2007-09-18 22:13 GMT: Bojangles' celebrates 30 years

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) - It started with a simple Cajun-style fried chicken recipe. Now, 30 years later, Bojangles' has new owners, a new chief executuve and ambitious plans to face growing competition from other restaurants and chicken vendors.

"To be a part of Bojangles' now is exciting," new chief executive Randy Kibler said in an interview. "Bojangles' is an incredibly strong brand and has a really good future."

Kibler, a fast-food veteran with nearly four decades of experience, this week replaced Joe Drury, who led Bojangles' since he and his partners purchased it in 1998. The switch came less than a week after an ownership group that includes former Bank of America chief Hugh McColl Jr. and Carolina Panthers founder Jerry Richardson acquired a majority stake in the company.

Supplies drive aids Clarendon School

Re/Max Desert Showcase in Peoria recently held its fourth annual School Supplies Drive to support Clarendon School in Phoenix.

Held last month at Rock Bottom Restaurant in Glendale, the benefit generated more than $600 in needed supplies for disadvantaged students at the school, which serves about 500 students in grades 4-6.

Supplies included 12,195 sheets of notebook paper, 2,831 pencils, 3,334 crayons, 435 notebooks, and 256 pocket folders, which were delivered this month.

"These students need basic tools like spiral notebooks, pencils, and crayons in order to get a better education," said Michae Cavallucci, part owner of the Re/Max franchise. "Our goal next year is to raise over $1,000 worth of school supplies for Clarendon."
