Communications giant AT&T of Florida announced Thursday it is investing $750 million to bring high-speed Internet and video to customers it hopes to lure from traditional TV cable companies.

Gov. Charlie Crist heralded the move at an afternoon press conference and credited a new law that opened up the market to more competition.

Mayor Refutes Report on Sonics, Bennett

Mayor Mick Cornett said the suggestion that Oklahoma City officials have spoken with members of the Seattle SuperSonics' ownership group about a possible move is "preposterous."

Cornett told The Associated Press the city's official position regarding its attempts to land an NBA franchise have not changed.
